Hamm: Jersey Shore Area School District Receives Nearly $85K for Career and Technical Education

June 3, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Joe Hamm (R-Lycoming/Sullivan) today announced Jersey Shore Area School District has been awarded $84,966 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Competitive Equipment Grants program to help with the purchase of new equipment for its career and technical education (CTE) program at Jersey Shore Area High School. The school district will purchase a virtual cadaver table for its Health/Medical Assisting Services program.

“Supporting our career and technical education programs is one of my top priorities as a state Representative,” Hamm said. “I will continue to fight for increased funding so all interested students have an opportunity to enroll in these programs and have access to quality instructional tools for the best possible hands-on learning experience.”

Under the Competitive Equipment Grants program, school districts and career and technical centers can receive grants of up to $85,000 to update or purchase equipment used in the training of students in approved career and technical education programs. The equipment must be aligned with the needs of employers, and programming must provide students with hands-on use of the equipment as part of the curriculum.
